Sculpture by the Sea returns to the Bondi to Tamarama Beach coastal walk as the world’s largest free to the public sculpture exhibition in 2024

Sculpture by the Sea will return to the Bondi to Tamarama Beach coastal walk as the world’s largest free to the public sculpture exhibition in 18 October – 4 November 2024. The spectacular coastal walk was once again transformed into a 2km long sculpture park over three weeks featuring more than 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and across the world.

We are delighted to announce that for the second year running the Aqualand Sculpture Award is $100,000 for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2024 .

Selected by the exhibition’s Judging Panel, the Aqualand Sculpture Award is an acquisitive award with the sculpture gifted by Aqualand for permanent public placement. The award is the second most valuable annual sculpture award worldwide. The sculptures that received this esteemed award in 2016 and 2017 were gifted by Aqualand to the Harbour Trust for placement in Headland Park at Georges Heights. The sculptures that were the award recipients in 2018 and 2019 were gifted by Aqualand to North Sydney Council, and the 2022 award recipient sculpture was recently gifted to the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail in Bago State Forest. We look forward to sharing with you the placement of the Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2023 award recipient, John Petrie’s ‘’23.5°’ later this year.

“As Aqualand celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, I’m incredibly proud to continue our partnership with Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, as Principal Sponsor, during this special milestone. It’s even more gratifying to note that this marks our ninth consecutive year of support, meaning we’ve championed this extraordinary event almost since our inception.

We’ve always recognised the strong synergy between Aqualand and Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, grounded in our shared commitment to fostering emerging creative talent, while also supporting established practitioners. These values are deeply ingrained in who we are as a company, and so it’s with great pride that we continue to support this unique and internationally acclaimed exhibition.

It’s our pleasure to once again provide the prestigious $100,000 Aqualand Sculpture Award, which is widely recognised as the most generous of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and therefore one of the most coveted art awards in the world. After the exhibition, the winning work will be gifted for permanent public display, allowing Sydneysiders to enjoy it on a lasting basis.

Remarkably, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi has now been attracting visitors to the iconic Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk for over a quarter of century. It’s ongoing commitment to inspire the community with its vast array of extraordinary artworks from across the world is nothing short of incredible.

At Aqualand, we take great pride in fostering creativity across every facet of our diverse group. We’re dedicated to creating lasting legacies for future generations by delivering exceptional residences in precincts that our clients are proud to call home. These spaces not only elevate their lifestyles, but also provide dynamic experiences and foster engaged communities.

As always, this year’s showcase is truly outstanding, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the exhibition as much as us.”
